What it is
Universal IC reads the balance and recent activity stored on contactless transit cards. Hold a card to the top of your iPhone and see what's on it in seconds. There's no account and no sign-in.
Supported cards
Japan
South Korea
Hong Kong
France
Australia
New Zealand
The app shows exactly what it can read from each card in Settings > Supported cards.
What you can do
- See a card's balance and its recent trips and payments
- See station names for Japanese train trips
- Save your cards, and look back through your scan history
- Export a card's data as CSV, PDF or JSON
- Pick an alternate app icon
Languages
English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and French.
Privacy
Card data is read and kept on your iPhone and never uploaded. The free version shows non-personalized ads from Google AdMob; a one-time "Remove ads" purchase turns them off. Read the full privacy policy.
Good to know
Balances show what the card last recorded, not a live account.
Some cards keep parts of their data locked, so the app can't show them. For example, myki and Adelaide metroCARD balances can't be read.
Disclaimer
Universal IC is an independent app. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any card issuer or transit operator, including JR East, PASMO, Tokyo Metro, T-money, Octopus Cards Limited, Île-de-France Mobilités, Transport for NSW, Public Transport Victoria, Adelaide Metro or Snapper. Card names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which cards the app can read.
Credits
Station and pass names come from open data and open-source projects. They're credited in the app under Settings > Licenses.
